daily jam, the new pornographers

Today's daily jam is The New Pornographers, an indie rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They are a wonderful band I found via the show Chuck. Upon hearing them on TV, they have made their way into my 'go to' list on my iPod. They have been around since 1997 and have made their impact on the indie rock scene for sure. Sit back and listen to the sweet sounds of The New Pornographers sing Challengers.

new girl

I know I am a week behind on this (blame my busy schedule) BUT I finally was able to catch up on the show New Girl on FOX last night. This episode was entitled "The Cooler", implying that Jess (played by Zooey Deschanel) was the reason that Nick (played by Jake Johnson) never got any hookups when Jess was around because of something adorable and quirky that she did, you know, something that her character NEVER does.

This episode was hands down my favorite by far and it wasn't only because Nick and Jess FINALLY kissed. Cue the shouting and the swooning. I think the show works best whenever all of the housemates are in one cohesive story line and stick together in one spot. The drinking game True American returned and one of these days my friends and I will play it. This time, it included stripping (they called it the "Clinton edition". Brilliant). In true Jess fashion, she was over compensating for being called a cooler and was doing everything possible to be Nick's 'world's best wing-woman'. But things back fired and it landed Jess and Nick in a room together having to kiss before they were allowed out; this all happening while everyone else was chanting 'kiss, kiss, kiss' on the other side of the door, including Jess's dreamy doctor of a boyfriend Sam. After failed attempts and obvious sexual tension, Nick couldn't take it anymore and climbed out onto the window ledge to get out of the room with Jess and back to the party and another girl. Schmidt steals the scene when he sees Nick out on the ledge and faints like a mom would do. The big moment came at the end when Jess walked out of her room, where her dreamy doctor boyfriend was laying in her bed, and into the hall. Nick comes out and gives her a big, swoon worthy kiss, 'with a clear and present threat of tongue'. The only question that remains, is what will happen now that they did kiss?

I talked with my friends and we all agree that this episode was the best one yet and all of us are waiting to see where the writers take the characters. I think the only thing that could have made this episode even better, would have been Schmidt having to put money into the douche bag jar.

daily jam, fall out boy

I grew up with Fall Out Boy. I've seen them easily a handful of times and they exist in almost all of my memories from high school. They were the first band that blew up because of social media (MySpace, yes before Facebook existed and before "social media" was actually a thing). Well everyone thought Fall Out Boy broke up but they actually just went on hiatus, surprising almost everyone on their return today. Cue emotional screaming and jumping for joy!!!! Their new single is called Light 'Em Up and it features 2 Chainz and is pretty bad ass if I do say so myself. FOB is going on tour this spring and you better believe I will be in the audience, patiently waiting for the third song to be played live which is always "Grand Theft Autumn".

Design Darling is a wonderful blog and online boutique run by the ever so chic Mackenzie Horan. On her blog she has complied a list of 101 things to accomplish in 1001 days. Number two on her long list of things to do was to inspire others to write their own lists. It's like a compressed bucket list. I think it is a wonderful idea and was inspired to write my own list. Check out Mackenzie's list and definitely check out her online boutique. I have bought several items from her boutique and her personal touches are what will be keeping me as a returning customer.

horoscope

Its Monday, meaning it's time to check Free People's weekly horoscopes and find out what I am in for in the upcoming week.
LIBRA
September 23–October 22
When motivated Mars and clever Mercury pair up with idealistic Neptune in your job sector this week, you’re inspired by your current occupation or find yourself longing to do more meaningful work that helps others. Given the murky nature of Neptune, you can also get caught up in never-ending tasks that tire you out. If you’re dissatisfied in your career, be careful how you deal with and speak to coworkers now. Mars battles with disproportionate Jupiter in your opinions zone, upping the chances for a workplace disagreement. Take a cue from your ruling planet Venus in your play zone, and schedule some fun into your week—dates, if possible. You may make a surprising, lighthearted romantic connection that helps you to feel good about the future. Or launch a new creative project that makes you smile, and ponder the financial implications, as it could turn out to be lucrative if you lay the proper groundwork.
